The god problem in politics

From today’s New York Times, with a touch of (my) bolding:

At stake, they argue, is the Supreme Court and the potential to undermine the right to abortion and gay marriage.

Mr. Trump may not be the perfect Christian, they argue, but it appears he is the one God chose. As Dan Celia, host of a show on American Family Radio, a Christian network, put it, “Throughout the Bible and church history, God has used unrighteous people to be his rod of righteousness to his people.”
