A statute of limitations makes me boiling mad

Look at this:

A U.S. citizen who was held in custody for more than three years under the mistaken belief he was deportable has lost his false imprisonment claim against immigration officials as untimely, a divided federal appeals court panel ruled.

I have to assume the “untimeliness” of his claim was due to the indisputable fact that he was held in custody for more than three years…during which period his time to file a claim had run out.

Someone better do something about this.
