A nasty bit of Red Cross history

Source: Why Did Israel Let Mengele Go? – The New York Times

A fascinating piece by Ronen Bergman explains why the Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, did not capture the monstrous Nazi Josef Mengele after World War II.

What had me opening my eyes, though, were these two sentences–both which I’m highlighting to emphasize yet one more reason I will never give to the Red Cross:

Mengele fled Germany to Argentina in 1948, using false documents given to him by the Red Cross. (According to the Mossad’s file, the organization was aware that it was helping a Nazi criminal escape justice.)
