A bullet point illustrating the gun problem in the USA

From Kevin Underhill’s Lowering The Bar, this is categorized as an Assorted Stupidity:

Recently a California man was charged with reckless endangerment for shooting a gun into the air to scare off a dog that was attacking his pet duck, and apparently that’s a crime? Okay, I guess the bullet might come down somewhere a person is, but that seems really unlikely, and the dog was attacking his duck right then, okay? “You’re going to put everyone else in danger to protect your duck?” said the man who called 911. Is that a serious question?
