A peripheral thought about the Capitol attackers

Not peripheral: a lot of them have been arrested, indicted and imprisoned while awaiting trial or a plea deal requiring cooperation and spilling everything they know.

Sure, some of them are out on bail, under house arrest or occasionally permitted to be best man at a friend’s wedding.

But. Every one of these 500 have had their houses, computers, phones and vehicles searched by the FBI. And if our educated suspicions about these characters are valid — they’re gun nuts — all the weaponry they’ve stocked and stored has been confiscated.

Most of them were savvy enough not to bring guns to D.C. This means they left the guns home. Maybe in Mommy’s basement. All those guns have been removed. They won’t be getting them back.

That’s my peripheral thought for today.
