Because I just had a long talk with a good friend and this is what came up:
Of all the Trump prospective members of his Clown Cabinet, she was most concerned with Bobby Kennedy. I offered my current state of mind, i.e., that none of these cabinet picks could destroy the agencies which they seem to have been commanded to destroy. I didn’t think dismantling our large government was that easy.
No, it’s not, she said. But Kennedy could do massive damage by spreading his “authoritative” views on vaccines, like measles. The problem comes because perhaps 75 million people will believe him. She mentioned there is a current measles epidemic in this country, because far too many people believe Kennedy and do not have their kids vaccinated.
Measles (which I had when I was a kid years before the vaccine was developed) is highly contagious and can be deadly. Kennedy, at his warped bully pulpit, has been implicated in deaths of Samoan kids whose parents believed his warnings about vaccines.
Yes, I said. Kennedy could be dangerous — except not to those of us who are convinced he’s a nut case. I mean, my grandnephews will be vaccinated and I’m not going to have my recent COVID booster shot extracted just because Kennedy believes Ashkenazic Jews (I am one) are immune from COVID. (My friend, also an Ashkenazic Jew, has had COVID a couple of times already, despite every available vaccine.)
It was then it hit me: I didn’t give a fuck what happened to people who would believe Kennedy or Oz, for that matter, over proven science. I feel bad for the little children but mostly bad that they had no choice in being born to such stupid parents, MAGAts.
So that got us to Bernie Sanders was right (I don’t think so) and Kamala’s mistake was not trying to get the votes of idiots who voted for Trump (raging idiots, I say), we had to build bridges to them, if at some rally I heard a woman curse Kamala, would I go over and talk to her and try to understand why she hated Kamala and, by extension, hated me, and listen to her, really listen and work at building a bridge to these people and–
I said, “I am hereby appointing you to go out there and build that bridge. I will not be doing it.”
Pace Pete Buttigieg, but for me that bridge is a bridge too far.
