Animal news: a dragon on Long Island

Someday maybe I’ll figure out how to make pictures like this from the Daily News and elsewhere big enough for everybody to see.

Until then…this is a policeman holding a dragon. A bearded dragon (although the beard is more like one of those scrawny under-the-chin type hair things). Both policeman and dragon are on Long Island. The policeman and his partner were summoned to a house by the owner who had found the dragon under her garbage can.

No description was offered as to the woman’s reaction, beyond her call to the police.

The dragon is now being treated at a wildlife sanctuary. If you recognize the dragon you can call the Third Precinct and offer information as to the owner. They don’t say if you can call anonymously. Or maybe pseudonymously.

The phone number is 516-573-6300.
