This is pretty spectacular news, via The Atlantic and journalist Sarah Zhang.
If you thought condors were extinct, you were wrong. (You were most likely thinking of rocs, which never existed; rocs have always been mythological.)
If you thought condors, like other species, require two sexes to reproduce, you were also wrong.
If you thought males were the dominant gender, the be-all-and-end-all of life — in scientific terminology, the cat’s pajamas –you are wrong. Or, as my Aunt Naomi used to say to my Uncle Saul, “Saul, you are wrong, wrong, wrong.”
Indeed, as the subheadline says, “‘Virgin birth’ might be more common in animals than we thought.”
