Anti-abortionists’ global war against women’s rights

Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee, said her group had not taken an official position opposing a government shutdown. But despite the anti-abortion sentiment stoked by undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood officials talking about providing fetal tissue for research, she said that she saw problems with a strategy put forward by conservatives who are willing to block any government-wide funding bill if it contains money for Planned Parenthood.

“Quite frankly, I think Planned Parenthood is a vile organization, and I resent the fact that they get any tax money,” Ms. Tobias said. “But realistically, with President Obama in the White House holding that veto pen, I don’t know that any government shutdown could accomplish what we want. What we have to do is get a new pro-life president in, and we’d have a much better chance of actually taking away their money.”

It always shocks me when women propagandize religiously for such anti-women policies and against the simple, profound idea that each of us has the right to decide for herself what she does with all aspects of her life. If we’re working to restrict Ms. Tobias’s choices–and we’re not–why is she working to restrict ours?

I’m endlessly curious about what happened to women like Carol Tobias when they were children, what kind of fathers and mates they had and have. I sense abuse of some kind, at the least mind control. I can’t believe that any woman who thinks for herself could be part of organizations like the National Right to Life Committee.

We must work tirelessly, endlessly to defeat these punitive ideas. The only way I know is “to get a” pro-choice “president in.” And that means that all women in this country must vote, independent of their familial influences.
