“Are you nuts?”

And, “What’s wrong with you?”

What poverty of mental acuity those two pejorative questions represent! And whose mental acuity am I accusing?

My own.

When I read quotes from the minority of people who express senseless ideas about politics or science, I sit here saying one of the two above things.

As remarks, as arguments they are as dopey as the attitudes which activated them. And I have nothing more to say about this, except to note my brain has apparently decided — and I did not give it permission — not to operate when confronted with idiocy.

I, for one, am glad I’m not a pundit. I would be an abject failure at spinning straw out of glitter.
