I’m quite behind in my Harper’s hard copy reading. Ergo, I opened the January 2017 edition only last night. (What can I say? I’ve been busy. Or something.)
I picked up these three items from the Index, Harper’s one page compilation of facts and numbers which seem at first to be random but actually exhibit a sort of relevant socio-political pattern.
- Estimated number of votes by which Donald Trump won the state of Wisconsin: 27,000.
- Of registered Wisconsin voters who lacked voter identification: 360,000.
And this, which caused my bitter laughter:
- Number of hours after the first U.S. election polls closed that the Canadian Immigration Services website crashed: 5.
