“City Agrees to Expunge Names Collected in Stop-and-Frisk Program”

This is important, a big story. I was startled by it because I didn’t realize that the NYPD was keeping the names of people they were stopping and frisking for no reason.

From what I remember, the courts eventually clear records of some really minor misdemeanor cases. So why on earth would they assume they could build records of people who did nothing except be stopped and frisked by cops?

So this is a big deal. Read the whole story by Joseph Goldstein and, along with me, applaud the NYCLU: City Agrees to Expunge Names Collected in Stop-and-Frisk Program – NYTimes.com.
