Deficit drop

From Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, FACT: the strongest economic growth in almost 40 years, powered by American Rescue Plan, has put the deficit on track to drop by more than $1.3 trillion this year. This is the largest-ever one-year decline.

The rebirth of labor unions

Breaking: Undergraduate students at Grinnell College just won the first wall-to-wall undergraduate union in the United State in a landslide 327 to 6 vote. The union will cover every hourly student workplace, in dining halls & elsewhere on campus.

Steven Greenhouse reports: “Workers at a Starbucks in Olympia, Washington, vote 19-2 to unionize & workers at the Holman Road Starbucks in Seattle vote 11-1 for a union Earlier, baristas at Astor Place in NYC voted 11-2 to unionize 43 stores have unionized (in 46 votes)”

Trump loses. Again

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron has denied a motion from Trump’s legal team to purge a civil contempt of court ruling and the $10,000 per day fine that accompanies it.

Putin’s war

The New York Times reports, “Russia appears to be ‘several days behind’ schedule in its offensive on the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine due to stiff Ukrainian resistance and continuing supply line problems, a senior Pentagon official said Friday.”
