From Harper’s Weekly Review:
The Colombian Navy seized a semisubmersible vessel carrying cocaine to Australia, where the drug is 6 times more valuable than it is in the United States.
Qs. What is a “semisubmersible vessel”? I know, I know — seems obvious. But along with all that coke is someone driving it or is it a water drone? (Did I make that up?) And what does it look like? To keep a coke transportation vessel from being seized, shouldn’t it be a fully submersed, i.e., invisible, vessel, one which the Colombian Navy wouldn’t spot on its usual rounds?
[A] man was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for attempting to travel to Australia with dozens of items of clothes, including a cow onesie, soaked with 2 pounds of methamphetamine; and a bag seized at an airport in Zurich, Switzerland, was found to contain children’s books with cocaine between their pages.
Qs. Didn’t I once see an episode of CSI: Miami with this idea? Are drug gangs picking up info from TV re-runs? Wild.
P.S. Love the cow onesie!
