As we come to the end of this pervasively, horrifyingly Manichean presidential campaign, this article somehow manages to tell the dense contemporary story of our complex country by focusing on the current situation one company, Chobani, has found itself in.

While all the people, especially the admirable Hamdi Ulukaya, the founder of Chobani, are portrayed with the many shades all of us human beings display, the false and dangerous attacks upon Mr. Ulukaya, his employees and his supporters make up a picture as starkly black and white as our politics.

It’s amazing. Read David Gelles’s article and you’ll absorb everything that is wonderful about the United States and everything that is dreadful. In one article.
