Habeas corpus: Who holds the chimps?

I do realize today may not be the most propitious time to shrink legal news into, well, this. But when have I ever been propitious? (A perjorative question; I don’t even know if personhood conveys propition. And you’re right: propition is not a word.)

Chimpanzees Tommy and Kiko will not be transferred to a South Florida sanctuary after a Manhattan appeals court on Thursday joined four previous state courts in refusing to recognize the animals’ legal “personhood.”
