“He was a talented child.”

So began a “Did You Know?” on-screen insert about Mendelssohn during Music Choice’s selection of a Mendelssohn piece. The insert went on to enumerate the operas and symphonies he wrote before he was born.

Well, I made up the “before he was born” part. But the insert followed up the “talented child” statement with the info that before Felix became a teenager, he’d written a ton of operas and symphonies.

So he was a prolific child, but was he any good?

Is it too too obvious I’m not a big fan of Mendelssohn?
