High-level NYC Dept of Ed office run “like a frat house?”

Maybe, and it’s a lawsuit. Via John Marzulli and Ben Chapman in the Daily News:

An explosive federal discrimination suit claims that a high-level Department of Education office is run like a frat house, with a top official rating some female staffers as “doable” and slamming others for their tummy fat.

Oooh. That “tummy fat” thing is entirely below the belt. Not to make fun of this Fair Pay Act lawsuit, because it sounds like an unjust situation, an outgrowth of the Lilly Ledbetter case which evolved into the Fair Pay Act.

The plaintiff is Sheila Dancy-Wilkins. The named individual, although not a named defendant, is John Shea, CEO of the Division of School Facilities. Sheila Dancy-Wilkins has a law degree. Shea is a “graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy” and is a former U.S. Navy reservist. Bad combination, when the (male) boss is educationally and possibly intellectually inferior to one of his (female) employees, over whom he has supervisory control.
