How liability can be divided in accident cases

I noticed this abstract because it confirms an earlier post about how accident verdicts and awards can be apportioned.

Although in this case it looks like the liability was divided between the defendants, as I mentioned in the above link, the plaintiff, too, can be held liable for a percentage.
