I can’t pray for Alexey Navalny but I can do this

I don’t believe in anybody’s god and I certainly don’t believe in prayer.

But I do believe in Alexey Navalny and am horribly upset that this remarkably courageous person (with a sense of humor, yet) has probably been poisoned, probably by Putin.

I first learned about him via a New Yorker story by Julia Ioffe, and then through Rachel Maddow. I was so knocked out I wrote about him, thanks to these two sources, in 2011.

I’ve been following his persistent challenge to Putin ever since.

I have had very few heroes in my life. He is one and I’m helpless to do anything for him.
