{"id":13131,"date":"2013-03-23T19:12:44","date_gmt":"2013-03-23T23:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sidebarforplaintiffs.naomifein.net\/?p=13131"},"modified":"2013-03-23T19:12:44","modified_gmt":"2013-03-23T23:12:44","slug":"nyc-transit-wanted-us-all-to-carry-id","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sidebarforplaintiffs.naomifein.net\/?p=13131","title":{"rendered":"NYC Transit wanted us all to carry ID?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What startles me about this piece of news via the Daily <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/new-york\/judge-nixes-nyc-transit-straphanger-id-requirement-article-1.1296229\">Judge rules unconstitutional NYC Transit\u2019s law requiring straphangers to carry ID\u00a0 &#8211; NY Daily News<\/a> is that I had no idea the Transit Authority had written an identification rule!<\/p>\n<p>Did you?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;Theoretically, the ID rule as written would authorize officers to ask someone for their bank records or reveal his or her age or weight,&#8221; [Magistrate Judge Cheryl] Pollak wrote in a decision issued Thursday&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>More than 6,500 people have been slapped with tickets in the past decade, court papers say.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Good grief!<\/p>\n<p>I once met Judge Pollak when I was working on a case she had authority over and I was so impressed with her. Not only was she a very smart woman, she seemed like a very nice, warm and humane one.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, Judge Pollak.
