I picked up this story from DailyKos, and the item begins<\/a>:<\/p>\n An adviser to Greg Abbott, the Republican candidate for Texas governor, said this week that he had found no \u201cevidence\u201d to prove that any woman had been a \u201csignificant original thinker in any of the world\u2019s great philosophical traditions.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n In audio obtained by the Burnt Orange Report, American Enterprise Institute scholar Charles Murray can be heard explaining to an audience at the University of Texas that his views on women had not changed since a 2005 paper, in which he asserted that one or \u201cmaybe\u201d two women had played significant roles in the field of philosophy.<\/em><\/p>\n When a woman at the event on Tuesday asked Murray if he still believed what he wrote, Murray quipped, \u201cWho do you have in mind?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Murray argued that in \u201ccertain traditions\u201d like literature, women had been at the \u201cpeak of accomplishment.\u201d But he said that he could only recall one important female philosopher, \u201cand she was not a significant thinker in the estimation of historians of philosophy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSo, yeah, I still stick with that,\u201d he insisted. \u201cUntil somebody gives me evidence to the contrary, I\u2019ll stick with that statement.\u201d – Raw Story, 4\/9\/14<\/em><\/p>\n If I voted in Texas, that’d get my vote \u2014 for the Democrat running against Abbott.
