He argued that by appearing male (or as he called it, \u201cneutral\u201d) women can avoid gender bias.<\/em><\/p>\n<p id=\"8069\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Specifically, his recommendations included the following:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul class=\"postList\">\n<li id=\"dfc4\" class=\"graf graf--li graf-after--p\"><em>Women in today\u2019s tech world should create an online presence that obscures their gender.<\/em><\/li>\n<li id=\"d17a\" class=\"graf graf--li graf-after--li\"><em>If you are a woman raising capital, you might consider not including photos of your team in your pitch deck.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"01ed\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--li\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Speaking as a woman in tech with a prominent online presence, I can assure you that Greathouse is very wrong.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--li\">I agree with Mauskopf. Beyond that, though, I have been irritated at everyone&#8211;woman or man&#8211;who uses initials or pseudonyms in online communications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--li\">Why are you doing this? Only reason I can think of is shame. You&#8217;re ashamed of what you have to say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--li\">If you&#8217;re too ashamed to use your full name, you&#8217;re giving me advance warning that even<em> you<\/em> believe your communication is shameful. So why should I read it?
