Can the courts fix climate change<\/a>?<\/em><\/p>\n

Several groups and individuals around the United States have gone to court to try to do what the Trump administration has so far declined to do: confront the causes and effects of global warming.<\/em><\/p>\n

If juries are the fourth branch of government<\/a>, let’s call plaintiffs the fifth branch.<\/p>\n

That is, when government fails to act in the interests of the population, the population must act in its own interests.<\/p>\n

It’s always worth prodding our government to remember something we as students had to memorize–other than the pledge of allegiance:<\/a><\/p>\n

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.<\/em><\/p>\n
