Brian Mast’s first TV ad attacking Democrat Lauren Baer over an op-ed she wrote in college went haywire<\/a> after it turned out that the commercial’s star, who said he was a retired New York City firefighter, was an actor who had been convicted of domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. (USA Today wrote earlier this month that it was still trying to confirm he was a firefighter.)
