Today, the Daily News supplies us with a satisfyingly thorough and repulsive report about Trump’s restaurants.<\/p>\n

(I’m categorizing this one as “The filthy rich.” Yuck yuck yuck.)<\/p>\n

The dirt on Don eateries<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Their namesake is a Mr. Clean freak, but some Trump-branded eateries are just plain dirty.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mice in the kitchen, filthy food prep areas and broken sewage systems are on the list of recent stomach-turning health code violations at the restaurants in the city, the Daily News has learned.<\/em><\/p>\n

Health inspections at Trump properties from Midtown Manhattan to the Bronx\u2019s Ferry Point reveal the President\u2019s namesake company still struggles to keep its day-to-day operations clean \u2014 though similar infractions have been reported for years.<\/em><\/p>\n

Violations at the President\u2019s crown jewel and Manhattan residence \u2014 Trump Tower on Fifth Ave. \u2014 are perhaps the most gag-inducing.<\/em><\/p>\n

City Health Department inspectors visited the tower\u2019s cafe and grill last July 11 and found \u201cevidence of mice or live mice\u201d in and around the kitchen, according to records that haven\u2019t previously been reported. The inspectors categorized the violation as \u201ccritical.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The inspectors also deemed the restaurant \u201cnot vermin-proof\u201d and said its \u201cconditions\u201d are \u201cconducive to attracting vermin\u201d and \u201callowing vermin to exist.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Moreover, the eatery\u2019s \u201cfood contact surfaces\u201d had not been properly maintained and \u201cunacceptable\u201d material had been used to build some \u201cnonfood contact\u201d stations, making them practically impossible to clean.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Trump Tower eatery has been written up for various health code violations every year since 2014, including sightings of \u201clive roaches\u201d in 2016 and \u201cfilth flies\u201d in 2017. But inspectors have not \u2014 until now \u2014 found mice tracks at the posh establishment.<\/em><\/p>\n

President Trump \u2014 who\u2019s technically still the chief executive of the restaurant since he never completely divested from his namesake company when he moved into the Oval Office \u2014 has a tendency to not clean up after himself, according to a former business associate.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHe has always been far more focused on creating an image for his properties than in spending what it takes to make them excellent,\u201d the ex-associate told The News, speaking on condition of anonymity in order to be candid.<\/em><\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Trump Organization wouldn\u2019t comment directly on the rodent reports, but said any \u201cminor infractions\u201d were dealt with immediately. The rep also noted the Midtown eatery has an \u201cA\u201d Health Department rating despite the violations.<\/em><\/p>\n

But a department spokeswoman noted the Trump restaurant is still an outlier, as only about 22% of food establishments in the five boroughs have \u201cmice-related violations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Inspectors returned to Trump Tower on Aug. 22 to check out the mezzanine bar \u2014 and found another \u201ccritical\u201d health violation.<\/em><\/p>\n

An unidentified \u201cfood worker\u201d at the gold-plated bar \u2014 where \u201cThe Billionaire Martini\u201d costs $20 \u2014 was not using \u201cproper utensils to eliminate bare hand contact\u201d with raw foods, according to records.<\/em><\/p>\n

Additionally, the inspectors found a \u201csingle service\u201d food item was reused and improperly stored.<\/em><\/p>\n

A bartender at the skyscraper shrugged off cleanliness concerns and said his workstation at least doesn\u2019t have rodents scampering around.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t seen any mice here,\u201d the barkeep told The News on a recent evening. \u201cI don\u2019t know about the restaurant, but no mice here.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The health officials came back again Jan. 31 and found Trump cafe and grill workers weren\u2019t keeping certain foods protected from \u201cpotential sources of contamination.\u201d<\/em>
\nAbout 12 miles north, at the Trump Golf Links in the Bronx, inspectors detected more \u201ccritical\u201d health violations last Nov. 7.<\/em><\/p>\n

Food contact surfaces at the club\u2019s eatery were not \u201cproperly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use\u201d or after \u201cactivity when contamination may have occurred,\u201d the inspectors reported.<\/em><\/p>\n

Secondly, the golf restaurant\u2019s plumbing and sewage systems were crap, according to the inspectors.<\/em><\/p>\n

Records reveal mandatory \u201canti-siphonage\u201d and \u201cbackflow prevention\u201d devices hadn\u2019t been installed as part of the plumbing networks, resulting in floors not being \u201cproperly drained.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The \u201csewage disposal system,\u201d meanwhile, was simply \u201cin disrepair\u201d and \u201cnot functioning properly,\u201d the inspectors said.<\/em><\/p>\n

Despite the sketchy health inspection records, the President has a long history of bragging about his hotels and restaurants, invariably calling them \u201cbeautiful\u201d and \u201cthe best,\u201d while knocking other people\u2019s eateries.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Red Hen Restaurant should focus more on cleaning its filthy canopies, doors and windows rather than refusing to serve a fine person like Sarah Huckabee Sanders,\u201d Trump tweeted in June after his press secretary was refused service at the Lexington, Va., establishment because of her role in his administration.<\/em><\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI always had a rule, if a restaurant is dirty on the outside, it is dirty on the inside!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
