Don’t know about you but I’m neither impressed nor scared by the new assault on our reasons and election. Still, it’s OK to be informed about it. <\/a><\/p>\n

Ho hum. Surprise. An ex-Fox “News” executive named Ken LaCorte is now out on his own, doing…what Fox “News” does so well: via his own site, he is publishing two online “newspapers,” one for conservatives and one for liberals. How very fair and balanced!<\/p>\n

To wit (less):<\/p>\n

Conservative Edition News is a repository of stories guaranteed to infuriate the American right. Its recent headlines include \u201cAustin sex-ed curriculum teaches kids how to obtain an abortion\u201d and \u201cHuffPost writer considers Christianity \u2018dangerous.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

On Liberal Edition News, readers are fed a steady diet of content guaranteed to drive liberal voters further left or to wring a visceral response from moderates. One recent story singled out an Italian youth soccer coach who called Greta Thunberg, the teenage climate activist, a \u201cwhore.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The sites are the work of Ken LaCorte, the former Fox News executive who was accused of killing a story<\/a> about President Trump\u2019s affair with Stormy Daniels, the pornographic film actress, before the 2016 election.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ah. So he’s not merely trying to feed us fake stuff. He wants to inflame us!<\/p>\n

I’m sitting here, typing this, so un-inflamed. You’d have to see me to realize how un-inflamed I am.<\/p>\n

So what do we need to do about this?<\/p>\n

Nothing.<\/p>\n

Why not? Just don’t sign on to LaCorte’s crap. It’s so easy to avoid.<\/p>\n

I do have a warning for LaCorte. He’s not going to get anywhere with liberals. As I learned doing research for How I Learned The Facts of Life<\/em>, liberals don’t fall for lies.<\/p>\n

Just in case you’re still antsy about truth and facts and evidence and proof and all that stuff, here are notes about three characters who produced fake news the last time. I’ve bolded the important facts:<\/p>\n

During the run-up to the presidential election, fake news really took off. \u201cIt was just anybody with a blog can get on there and find a big, huge Facebook group of kind of rabid Trump supporters just waiting to eat up this red meat that they\u2019re about to get served,\u201d<\/em> [Jestin] Coler says. \u201cIt caused an explosion in the number of sites. I mean, my gosh, the number of just fake accounts on Facebook exploded during the Trump election.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Coler says his writers have tried to write fake news for liberals \u2014 but they just never take the bait.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

And…<\/p>\n

Jobless and with graduation looming, a computer science student at the premier university in the nation of Georgia decided early this year that money could be made from America\u2019s voracious appetite for passionately partisan political news. He set up a website, posted gushing stories about Hillary Clinton and waited for ad sales to soar.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know why, but it did not work<\/strong>,\u201d said the student, Beqa Latsabidze, 22, who was savvy enough to change course when he realized what did drive traffic: laudatory stories about Donald J. Trump that mixed real \u2014 and completely fake \u2014 news in a stew of anti-Clinton fervor.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And…<\/p>\n

There’s James Dowson, a really bizarre Brit whose “Patriot News Agency” flung out a poisonous spider web of the usual anti-Hillary\/pro-Trump craziness claiming to connect Clinton to Satanism and pedophilia.<\/p>\n

Dowson called me — and possibly you — “the hysterical left,” because he had to admit, if only tacitly, that we didn’t buy into, or even read, his crazy productions.<\/p>\n

So, two reasons why we don’t have to get upset. Or hysterical.<\/p>\n

  1. We now know how to deal with this sort of thing; and<\/li>\n
  2. We liberals were never affected by it in the first place. And we will not be again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
