Saw that in yesterday’s Times and laughed and laughed.<\/a><\/p>\n

And then, I asked the same question that has, it seems, been asked on the internet: O, Canada, “Exactly how would you stop them?”<\/p>\n

The answer? Not too satisfying: “Keep beyond moose-tongue distance by moving on before a moose approaches.”<\/p>\n

How does ]Steve] Young [a spokesman for Jasper National Park] define \u201cmoose-tongue distance\u201d?<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI actually don\u2019t know how long a moose tongue is,\u201d he admitted. But the park\u2019s guidelines for how far people should stay from animals is 30 meters, or 100 feet, he said.<\/em><\/p>\n

He acknowledged that if you do find your car on the receiving end of a moose-licking, your options can be limited.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone who\u2019s had their car licked by a big-horned sheep, I realize there are limited options when you\u2019re parked,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe do understand that in some situations, patience might be your friend, and the safest thing you can do is to stay where you are.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
