A chameleon too too small. Teeny, in fact. (There’s a photo of the little creature standing on the top of someone’s thumb.)<\/a><\/p>\n

The Guardian reports:<\/p>\n

Scientists say they have discovered a sunflower-seed-sized subspecies of chameleon that may well be the smallest reptile on Earth.<\/em><\/p>\n

Two of the miniature lizards, one male and one female, were discovered by a German-Madagascan expedition team in northern Madagascar<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Several things about this. First, does Madagascar produce all the extraordinary animals on earth? This one is called Brookesia nana, or nano-chameleon.<\/p>\n

Try saying “sunflower-seed-sized subspecies” out loud.<\/p>\n

We can all be glad there are a male and a female. Unless they don’t like each other. Since the female is bigger than the male, this may be a problem.<\/p>\n

Now, why am I suddenly reminded of Michelle Goldberg’s piece in today’s New York Times about the crazy thirty-year conspiracies focused on Hillary Clinton?<\/a><\/p>\n

P.S. Although Goldberg doesn’t mention it, let me remind us all when Hillary called it a vast right-wing conspiracy and was mocked? And when she called these people “deplorable,” and was excoriated. She was being kind to them. She didn’t call them psychotic and stupid.<\/p>\n

P.P.S. As usual, I read the readers’ letters commenting on Goldberg’s piece. In my loose reckoning, around 90 percent of them were pro-Hillary. But here is the one that made the biggest impression on me:<\/p>\n

Unlike the conspiracists, I\u2019ve actually met Hillary Clinton. I interviewed her when she was running for Senate, and my lasting impression is that I\u2019ve never been listened to that intensely in my life. She\u2019s something. A tiny person with blazing blue eyes whose slight frame barely manages to contain her intellect. She\u2019s also one of the nicest people I\u2019ve ever met in politics. We were robbed.<\/em><\/p>\n
