It’s 5:30 pm. I haven’t changed from my sleep gear, not yet. Maybe I won’t, not today. I just realized I haven’t brushed my teeth. Or eaten anything.<\/p>\n
What have I been doing? Reading a lot of despair, rage, knee-jerk blaming and flailing, incredulity — and arguing with certain aspects of it, even while I’m shattered, furious and seeing everything through a disorted lens. Somebody wrote somewhere that it’s as if a psychiatric institution flung open its doors and let the inmates out to vote, and to delude themselves into thinking they are competent to run a massive government.<\/p>\n
I listened to Kamala’s inspiring concession speech. She has become my ideal politician: intelligent, wise, relaxed, pointed with her criticism and specific in laying out the sort of federal government I’ve always believed in and supported. I genuinely love her. She will not be disappearing.<\/p>\n
In 2016, it was awfully clear to us women that misogyny affected the presidential race. In 2024, I believed we’d gotten past that. That’s clearly my optimism for you. Now, we have to add racism to the same fucking misogyny.<\/p>\n
8:32 pm. Still in my PJs, ate some popcorn and V8 juice.<\/p>\n
