{"id":8824,"date":"2012-05-23T10:28:44","date_gmt":"2012-05-23T14:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sidebarforplaintiffs.naomifein.net\/?p=8824"},"modified":"2012-05-23T10:28:44","modified_gmt":"2012-05-23T14:28:44","slug":"maid-awarded-350g-after-grope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sidebarforplaintiffs.naomifein.net\/?p=8824","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Maid awarded $350G after grope&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This, from yesterday&#8217;s <em>Daily News,<\/em> is not about Dominique Strauss-Kahn (there seems to be an endless supply of international businessmen and politicians who think it&#8217;s OK to sexually assault American women):<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>A Manhattan federal judge recommended Monday that an Egyptian businessman who sexually assaulted a maid inside his $900-a-night room at The Pierre pay the woman $350,000.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Magistrate Judge Michael Dolinger <strong>set the damage award after Mahmoud Abdel-Salam Omar never responded to the lawsuit<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Last June, Omar, then 74, pleaded guilty last year to a misdemeanor in Manhattan Criminal Court for kissing the maid on her lips and groping her breasts.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>He was arrested May 30 after the woman went to police to report being attacked when she went to Omar&#8217;s room at a midtown hotel to deliver tissues. <\/em>&#8212; Robert Gearty<\/p>\n<p>I bolded that &#8220;never responded&#8221; because it&#8217;s important, to me especially: when the Skush-O&#8217;Briens failed to show up in Housing Court last week, Judge Peter Wendt fined them.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, I&#8217;ve written about showing up?
