Judge jailed over false claim about an attacking toilet tank lid

I read the headline in today’s New York Law Journal and began laughing even before reading the abstract, via Associated Press.

There is so much left to our imaginations. So…go imagine.

Judge Who Claimed Toilet Tank Lid Attack Sent to Jail

The Associated Press

A former upstate New York village judge has been sentenced to six months in jail for falsely claiming he was knocked over the head with a toilet tank lid and choked as he was locking up after work two years ago.

P.S. I’m sitting here wondering whether I’d like having this judge presiding over my case, or not.

UPDATE 10/14/2015. Here’s a fuller description of this story in today’s ABA Journal. In a way, it cuts down the bubbly up the nose, doesn’t it? More details, less fun in imagining. I may sigh but I must report it:

A former municipal judge found guilty of lying about being assaulted outside his Waterloo courthouse in 2013 has been sentenced to six months behind bars.Convicted in August of insurance fraud
