No protection for gays fired for being

This is wrong and unjust.

This piece, by Tara Siegel Bernard, in the business section of today’s Times, gives me a chance to fire away at the “states rights” argument, and offer big support for the federal government. Because the federal government (of which, let us remember, Congress is the legislative body) can pass laws governing country-wide public policy and social justice.

So while states might not have laws that gays can avail themselves of — when they are fired for being gay — the federal government (of which, let us remember again, Congress is the legislative body) can write such a law that would overwrite state prejudice.
