An American Bitcoin trader and his girlfriend have fled their home, which was built atop a platform in the sea 12 miles off the coast of Phuket, Thailand, and gone into hiding. The trader claimed his “seastead” home fell under the sovereignty of no country, but Thai authorities have claimed it violated theirs and revoked his visa. This bitcoiner’s house on a platform in the middle of the sea sounds like something from a Carl Hiaasen novel. Are we sure this story is not fictional? Or that this guy didn’t plan to build his house off the coast of Florida and was just so stoned or something he landed off the coast of Thailand?
