Personal injury story involving motorcycle a little confusing

I’d like to read more of this grim story because I don’t quite grasp how the court made its decision. I gave up riding motorcycles as a passenger a long, long time ago. If I hadn’t, this bit of news would certainly get me off ’em.

Court Says Woman’s Injuries Sustained in Single Accident

A woman continued to “occupy” a motorcycle as a passenger during a collision with an oncoming pickup truck even though she was thrown from the bike, an appellate court has ruled. And it found that she was not injured in a “second” accident when the motorcycle fell on her.
