From the New York Times, the news we all expected–Rolling Stone is sued for defamation over the discredited rape article.
Wasn’t I just muttering about journalism and integrity and how journalists can change the world, or something? Yeah, I was: yesterday. So what a shame that Rolling Stone seems to have overlooked one great principle of journalism: check your facts over and over and over.
An associate dean at the University of Virginia is suing the article’s author, as well as Rolling Stone magazine and its parent company, for a total of nearly $8 million in damages.
