Salad greens and fresh fruit during shut down?

I am in need of lettuce. Salads are de rigueur for me every night.

I also need fresh fruit.

But without the FDA inspecting foods, and recalling the recent dire warning from the CDC about romaine and E.coli even before the shutdown, I’m thinking of steaming vegetables and making more apple sauce, or pear sauce — cooking fruits, that is, rather than eating them raw.

Are you thinking the same thing?
