Who Sues? Class Action Lawsuits v. The Alternative

In the Saturday, November 20, business section of the NYT, Joe Nocera wrote a terrific piece about Kenneth Feinberg, the compensation expert appointed by the Obama Administration to settle damage claims against BP for the Gulf oil spill.

It’s especially interesting for anyone interested in how lawsuits work– and don’t work–for plaintiffs. As Nocera points out, “To put it bluntly, litigation is a crapshoot.”

The whole piece is fascinating. Here it is, at http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/20/business/20nocera.html?_r=1&scp=6&sq=Joe+Nocera&st=nyt
