Three lawsuits: one mayor, one celebrity, one Sabbath

Bless the Daily News. Just when I need them, they’ve weighed in today with three lawsuits:

One Mayor:

Slap Mike on wage grab try.

Mayor Bloomberg’s attempt to seize power over trade workers’ wages from City Controller John Liu got smacked down by a Manhattan Supreme Court judge Thursday.

Unions went to court after Bloomberg said in April that Liu would no longer set the pay of more than 10,000 unionized city workers in 95 job titles — including electricians, plumbers and steamfitters.

Judge Manuel Mendez ruled that Bloomberg was out of line, saying the mayor’s seizing wage power from Liu had “no rational basis” under the law.

One celebrity:

Rihanna sues ex-accountants, claiming she lost millions of dollars and IRS is auditing her  – NY Daily News.

And Sabbath:

The city’s Health and Hospitals Corp. settles lawsuit with State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman over complaints of religious discrimination – NY Daily News.
