So glad that Harper’s Weekly Review is helping me out, thusly…
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling stipulating that the government of Texas could not remove “butt and fart” books from its libraries,* the Utah state board of education considered whether banned books should be “shredded” or “burned,” ** and a book about book bans was banned in a Florida school district.***
* Aren’t things getting tangled up? I mean, isn’t the 5th Circuit the circuit we love to hate? Yet they’re OK with “butt and fart” books. (Would be helpful if some of those books were named. Or do I have to Google-search?)
**Finally we hear about a board of education doing fine, appropriate educational work, in this case comparing and contrasting certain past participles.
***My brain must be affected by our over 90 degree temperature because I lost the logic in this sentence and am stuck somewhere in the middle.
