How crazy is Trump? This crazy…

The first thing I do when I get up is open my digital edition of the New York Times and read it while drinking my coffee.

For a while now, the Times has provided me with a headline regarding something Trump has done or said which causes me to react.

When I write “react,” I do not mean “react” the way most people react, i.e., in horror, rage, etc. My reaction is either low-key (before I’ve had my full coffee dose), usually with that eternal profound question, “Huh?”, or, after fully coffee-ed, loud laughter.

Am I not taking Trump, et al, seriously enough? Well, yes and no.

Seriously, this creature who thinks he’s president is busy manically over-decorating our White House, which is merely his temporary residence — sort of like putting up wallpaper in an AirB&B rental. With linens. I mean, his title is president. But, with the multiple psychopathologies embedded in his character, his sturdily maintained and compleat ignorance, his mental age (maybe 7), and indubitable downward trend in brain and physical functions (how low can he go when he’s starting at 7?), I’m pretty sure Trump’s concept of “president” is not my concept of president.

Also, no — I am not taking Trump seriously. I don’t think he’ll be in office much longer, I don’t think the trash he’s trying to make of our country will take forever to be cleansed and set right, and I do think all of his unconstitutional, illegal, corrupt and criminal activities will bring him and his family and his manager-minions to justice and/or a straitjacket. (Yes, yes, everybody thinks my natural optimism has gone haywire.)

So that’s my attitude when I look through the Times.

Today, there was a rich bonus beyond all expectations. Here was the Trump-related headline in the Times:

President Trump said he planned to send a “great hospital boat” to Greenland.

Burst of laughter, along with, “Huh?” Did something health-related happen in Greenland, something I knew not of?

No. Indeed, Danish officials, apparently as hilariously mystified as I was, headlined in response:

That’s how crazy Trump has become.

But why, out of the blue, did he come up with this particular absurdity? On Bluesky, I picked up this news item from Reuters and a whole bunch of other sources:

NUUK, Feb 21 (Reuters) – Denmark’s Joint Arctic Command said on Saturday it had evacuated a crew member who required urgent medical treatment from a U.S. submarine in Greenlandic waters, seven nautical miles outside of Greenland’s capital Nuuk.

The crew member has been transferred to the Greenlandic health authorities and the hospital in Nuuk, the Joint Arctic Command said in a statement.

So, instead of heartily thanking Denmark for rescuing a sick crewman from one of our submarines, the Trump known as “president” responded with…oh, never mind.

That’s how crazy Trump is.
