FB just banned me, MS claimed I had a virus, etc etc

Whenever I post something here, I put it onto Facebook and Bluesky. Well, my snark at Dr. Oz was instantly rejected by Facebook as being “illegal” or “criminal” or something. Broke all the rules, or something.

I was informed I’d be permanently banned from Facebook, although I wasn’t told what I had to do to avoid the ban.

And then, Microsoft weighed in, spreading warnings all over my screen about dangerous viruses or whatever and told me “NOT TO TURN MY COMPUTER OFF!” but to call MS immediately.

What I did immediately was turn my computer off. I’m an old hand at these threats.

I’m supposing the name OZ triggered Facebook to toss threats at me, although I’m not often so grandiose as to think any of these mega things are actually surveilling me. But perhaps I am wrong.

I just read this paragraph in the New Republic:

This email from Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign hit our inbox at 12:04 a.m.: “If you’re reading this, then that means Meta has restricted our campaign from running any new ads on Facebook or Instagram for the rest of the election cycle.” This follows the company temporarily suspending the Instagram account of No Kings last Saturday in the middle of its rallies and similar activity around the Lula campaign in Brazil. Meta says the first two episodes were all a big mistake. House Democrats Robert Garcia and Jamie Raskin have demanded a briefing on the No Kings matter no later than next week.

Meta says it’s all a big mistake. Oh yeah.

I’m feeling rather honored to be included in such company.
