…“if men were angels, no government would be necessary.”

In my nightly, crucial adherence to MSNBC, I’ve been impressed with a number of politicians who’ve been invited to speak about everything that’s going on.

Note to DNC: when you’re looking for potential candidates for higher office, pay attention to Michael Signer, mayor of Charlottesville, and author of a James Madison biography.

(To make things even easier for you, here’s the About section of Signer’s website.)

Note to DNC Chairs Tom Perez and Keith Ellison, and everyone else, especially those of you who’ve been yelling that the Democrats have no viable, attractive candidates: take a close look at Signer’s web site, linked above. And his Wikipedia entry. I sat here scrolling down and saying, “Oh, my!”

And read this, by an eloquent politician and author, and excellent human being: Charlottesville Will Move On – The New York Times

(I got my title from Signer’s essay in which he quotes James Madison, who wrote it.
