In American history this man finds hope. I’m with him

A terrific essay in the New York Times, “ Why the Searing Politics of the Trump Era Give Me Hope: American political history suggests that an age of renewal lies ahead,” by Lee Drutman.

It confirmed my deep sense of what has been going on and why we should look at it as American awakening rather than apocalypse.

After I finished it, I went to the comments. Where I got affirmation of a study I read about years ago demonstrating that the majority of people are pessimists.

Whether you’re an optimist, like me, or a pessimist, like most of you, read it. It’s got more depth of reasoning than most of the current agitation.

Oh, and whether you’re an optimist or a pessimist…Vote. Always. In every election. Vote.
