Forgot to mention one of my standards for a candidate is a law degree and, preferably, some experience practicing as a lawyer.
If no law degree, a major in history, political science and/or government is second.
Because legislation is law. Understanding legislation requires a law degree or a group of lawyers around interpreting for you. And writing legislation definitely requires a law degree AND a group of lawyers around editing and re-writing and cutting and adding.
So what do we have with the leading Democratic Party candidates? Alphabetically?
Joe Biden has a law degree.
Pete Buttigieg has degrees in history and political science.
Amy Klobuchar has a law degree.
Bernie Sanders has a degree in political science.
Elizabeth Warren has a law degree.
